Toward Healthy Urban Streets: Richness of Roadside Tree Species in Industrial Area of Shah Alam, Selangor

Abstract Roadside trees are distinct component of urban forests, providing benefits to reduce radiation heat and air pollution. However, settlements due overpopulation might affect the abundance roadside trees. Hence, this study was conducted assess species richness diversity in Shah Alam. All with 1-metre height above Section 15 16 were measured identified as referred Landscape Department Alam City Council (MBSA) computerised database. The data analysed for their taxonomic composition diversity. A total 5,523 recorded where 4,087 1,426 16. Fabaceae most dominant family both sections three leading such Peltophorum pterocarpum, Pterocarpus indicus, Roystonea regia accounted 14.7% planted relatively higher 11 families 25 than 16, 8 18 species. values Species Diversity Index considered high 8.37 despite environmental impact from industrial activities. Thus, it is suggested that future research should include potential risks biodiversity loss proper management practices settings.
